The ESSEX SABB Team

The ESSEX SABB Team

This year’s amazing Sabbatical Team have been the driving force behind the commitment, moving heaven and earth to make sure that what has been promised is delivered.

Their team work and support for each other have made the sum greater than the individual parts, they have worked tirelessly to support each other and to challenge everyone around them to step up and deliver.

This has been an extraordinary team worthy of wider recognition for all that they have achieved. year.

Impact and Reach

Impact and Reach

Impact and Reach
Students deserve to have an SU that works around them, whoever they are and wherever they are from.

This commitment from our Sabb Team this year has done great things.

Campaigns

Campaigns

Essex students don’t take anything lying down.

Campaigns this year have been inspired by our Sabb Team really listening to our members and evidenced by a significant increase in participation from across campus.

Representation

Representation

Our Sabb Team don’t believe in doing things because they think ‘that is what students want’ but they actually go out and find out what students are saying.

No view is too small or too minor to our Team; from module choice to food choice, these guys have had it covered.

Partnership

Partnership

The Sabbs’ mature relationship with the University’s Senior Team has been built on the principles of working together but not being afraid to disagree.

This has lead to a real confidence in the Students’ Union and has secured our future.

Sabbatical teams have a short period of time to make their mark. To have a profound impact, they need to run with initiatives that are already underway, as well as simulating and leading new activities.

The Sabbatical team at Essex this year has been outstandingly successful in both ways, translating a clear narrative for the SU into a succession of initiatives and activities across the areas of responsibility of each of the sabbs.

The hugely successful Holi and Chinese New Year celebrations, the #itendsnow campaign, the promotion of healthy eating on our campuses, the surge in popularity of sports clubs at all three campuses, the creation of the Essex mobile app and the #weareessextoo campaign for pay equalisation for SU staff are all instances of great teamwork and individual passion coming together to reflect the values and identity of the Essex SU - they are a fantastic team fully deserving of recognition.
