The Sabbs’ mature relationship with the University’s Senior Team has been built on the principles of working together but not being afraid to disagree.

This has lead to a real confidence in the Students’ Union and has secured our future.

Sabbatical teams have a short period of time to make their mark. To have a profound impact, they need to run with initiatives that are already underway, as well as simulating and leading new activities.

The Sabbatical team at Essex this year has been outstandingly successful in both ways, translating a clear narrative for the SU into a succession of initiatives and activities across the areas of responsibility of each of the sabbs.

The hugely successful Holi and Chinese New Year celebrations, the #itendsnow campaign, the promotion of healthy eating on our campuses, the surge in popularity of sports clubs at all three campuses, the creation of the Essex mobile app and the #weareessextoo campaign for pay equalisation for SU staff are all instances of great teamwork and individual passion coming together to reflect the values and identity of the Essex SU - they are a fantastic team fully deserving of recognition.
